Tone- The quality of something that the reveal the feelings of the author
The general tone of the newspaper is about the government
It's important for us to know tone because each poems have different tone so if you can't understand them then you can't understand the author feelings

Speaker- A person who talks (usually to deliver a speech)
President Obama is a speaker
When we read a poem, we're the speaker so it's importance for us to know this

Personification- The art of compare a human to a ideas
There are a lot of personification in a stanza
In  poems, some sentence has personification where they compare things so you have to know this to make a poems or read it

Rhythm- The arrangement of spoken words alternating stressed and unstressed
In the dawning
of the age of crisis
nothing remains the same
the threshold keeps changing
into new territories
In poems, there're a lot of rhythm sentence so we need to learn this to read it the correct ways or to write a poem

Rhyme- A piece of a line in poetry that usually go up or down
Rhyme is one of the element of poetry
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
And so are you

Couplet- A stanza that have two lines usually rhyme
I am a funny person who likes cats
I wonder if world peace is near
I hear cats meowing at night
I see duck everywhere
I want a cat as a pet
I am a funny person who likes cats
Stanza appear a lot in poems. It either to repeat or make a conclusion so we need to learn this to see why poems have so many likes sentence

Elegy- A poem that is for the dead
It is rare that some people read elegy for their lost ones
When someone dies, you could read a elegy for your lost ones there for it could be useful for you to learn this if you want to write a wonderful poems for your lost ones

Meter- Rhythm given into parts of equal duration
Every poem must have a meter
Rhythms are not always different like you have to make it equal to make the poems sound good

Alliteration- Use the same consonant at the beginning of it stressed syllables
Around the rock the ragged rascal ran

Assonance- The repeat of similar vowels of a stressed syllables
Oh lovely orange
You golden treat
Oh tell me why aren't
You easy to eat?
You could use this skill to create a poem sentence with the same vowels but with a different meanings

Onomatopoeia- Using the word that imitate the sounds
The taps go plip, plop!
The saucepan goes stir, slop!
The knives and the forks go rattle, clatter!
The baby goes pitter, patter!
You could use this to write a word that describe the sounds to make a poem look real like you could actually feel it or hear it

Symbol- Something that represent a country or a team
The eagle is a symbol of the U.S

Lines- Make a mark 
Draw a line
Some of the poems are difficult to understand so the author underline it and write next to it a explaination

Poetry- A art of beauty or writing through poem
Some poetry are rhyme

Imagery- The ability to picture things or events
Even in my imagery, i still think of her

Stanza- Number of line forming a unit in poem, usually rhyme
There's a stanza in that poem

Metaphor- a figure of speech used to refer something that it does not in order to make it similar
Metaphor use alot in poem to make it better

Extended metaphor- A metaphor that is extended through a poem by multiple compare
Our class is studying extended metaphor

Simile- A figure of speech which compare two things if it have any similar things
Me and my brother have simile things

Interpretation- An explain of something that is obvious
I explain the word haunted interpretation

Poetry- the art of write or speak through beautiful, rhyme, creative usually express their feelings.
Ex: My grades are so much better now,
Which makes my parents glad.
Freddie is the smartest dog
That I have ever had!
Importance: I think we should learn this because its not creative but its also show us the author emotion through the poetry. Also poetry can be funny, dramatic ...etc through the words.
